“The gite itself, owner, meals, lodging, everything was perfect. What I am referring to in the title as "terrible", is the meal-reservation process. As far as I know, the whole site reunion.fr and the lodging booking subsite runs office du tourisme de la Réunion. You can see availability, you can see reviews, you can book and pay online. Why the hell, in 2018, there is no option to add meals? WTF? After the booking process, you only get information that you have to book the meals yourself with the gite owner directly. And generally, you really want to book your meals as usually there is no other option of having a meal in any of the small villages/settlements in Mafate - you have to book in advance with the gite you are staying in. This review is not ment to harm anybody in Mafate or any other gite owner. I enjoyed staying in every gite in Mafate which we used, owners were great and welcoming. What I am complaining about is the booking system and especially the user-unfrendly meals reservation process. Of course, if I spoke french well I could easily call and book the meal, but as long as I can not, I have to rely on my basic french which does not have much use in frech-creole locations.”

“Il faisait très froid dans le gîte mais aussi dans la "salle"/terrasse ou on a mangé. J'aurais apprécié manger à l'intérieur. Le repas du soir était très bon, mais le petit déjeuner plutôt maigre. Dans la douche il n'y avait pas d'eau chaude.”

“Good quality building so compared to other places I was not cold at night, which is a big plus. Clean and quiet place. When I arrived the owner was not there and I ate at the shack bar, but it was ok.”

“Le gîte est magnifiquement situé, avec une superbe vue. Les chambres sont top, dans des petites maisonnettes. Repas pris avec les autres locataires, très bon ! Bref, on a adoré le cadre et la gentillesse de la propriétaire. ”

“A par la chambre qui était propre et sympa, le reste était vraiment pas satisfaisant. Je suis originaire de la reunion je suis venue avec des amis touristes et j’avais expliquée l’accueil et l’hospitalité des mafatais. Ont a vu pratiquement personne au gîte, nourriture franchement pas top avec un gâteau au réglisse ?? Ou avons nous vu ça ?? Pas de fruits, ni petits rhums arrange. Bref c’est dommage car il y a pas si longtemps c’ etait Vraiment une belle expérience, aujourd’hui c’est du business... ”

“Schnuckelige kleine Häuschen, top gepflegt, sauber sanitäre Einrichtungen - rund um sehr zu empfehlen. Wahrscheinlich die beste Gîte in Marla.”
